Avoid These Pitfalls To Implement Efficient Cloud Journey

An efficient cloud operating structure is built on the overall organization’s technology capability. Some enterprises have implemented cloud infrastructure and made substantial investments. At the same time, others are still in the initial phase of their cloud technology journey.

When you rush to cloud adoptions, you should be very cautious to avoid some pitfalls. Most early cloud adopters experience trouble either due to low cloud performance, increasing cloud costs, or losing data.

If you are experiencing bad cloud performance, it is the result of poor planning and execution. Therefore, it is advised to be very thoughtful while approaching the cloud journey.

Missing the business objectives to align with a cloud strategy

If you are missing to align your business objectives with the cloud strategy, you are on a path to mismanage your cloud management. Moreover, putting unrealistic expectations regarding how quickly users will adopt the new technology will jeopardize the cloud implementation. Therefore, IT leaders should step forwarded to ensure that cloud implementation is aligned with the business objectives. Moreover, they need to ensure the minimum disruptions in the current business flow while implementing cloud technology.

Making changes in one step instead of incremental changes

If you are putting all your workloads and applications in the cloud in one go, it may result in mismanagement. On-premises data center is still being used by many organizations to manage their workloads. They move their workloads step by step, knowing which workload will perform better in the cloud.

Instead of moving all your workloads to the clouds wholesale, you should assess whether the particular app is right to move to the cloud or not. For many enterprises, a cohesive cloud strategy is a gem for their operations. They can have private, public, and on-premise strategy collectively depending on their business requirements.

Disjointed experiences for IT and developers

While having some data in the cloud and other data in an on-premise datacenter can create a confusing environment for the IT and developers. Thus, it is the IT leader’s responsibility to ensure that teams do not get confused while working on applications due to having a hybrid strategy.

Trapped in the single cloud provider

Different workloads perform differently in different clouds. Therefore, you should first determine which workload performs better in which cloud. You should not put all your eggs in one basket. There is a massive risk of being trapped in a single cloud provider. Moreover, it helps you to utilize the best feature of each cloud provider. One cloud provider may offer you the best storage services, while other providers provide better services in development. Therefore, you need to be cautious while approaching the cloud journey. Nowadays, a multi-cloud strategy is growing among enterprises.
