Common questions about AKS

AKS is Microsoft's managed Kubernetes offering on Azure. Instead of your team spending time managing the control plane — patching, upgrades, availability — Azure handles all of that. You focus on deploying and running your applications.
When you manage Kubernetes yourself, a significant chunk of your team's time goes into maintaining the infrastructure rather than building on it. With AKS, the control plane is fully managed by Azure, and you get native integrations with Azure AD, Azure Monitor, and Container Registry out of the box. It's a much lower operational burden.
Yes. AKS supports mixed node pools, so you can run Linux and Windows containers in the same cluster. If your environment has both, you don't need to maintain separate infrastructure for each.
It depends on your starting point. If you're building a new cluster with CI/CD pipelines from scratch, most teams are up and running in 2–4 weeks. If you're migrating existing workloads — especially in a regulated environment — expect 8–16 weeks to do it properly.
Security on AKS isn't a single setting — it's a set of controls across identity, networking, and runtime. We configure Azure AD RBAC for access management, set up private clusters to limit exposure, enable image scanning before anything reaches production, and activate Microsoft Defender for Containers for runtime threat detection. Compliance logging is set up from day one.
It's actually one of the better ways to get started. AKS removes a lot of the complexity that makes self-managed Kubernetes difficult — you're not dealing with control plane setup or etcd management. We also build knowledge transfer into every engagement, so your team comes away understanding what's been built, not just that it works.
There's no fee for the AKS cluster management itself — you pay for the underlying compute, storage, and networking. In practice, costs are driven by the size and number of nodes you run. We help rightsize your node pools and configure Azure Spot VMs for non-critical workloads, which can meaningfully reduce your monthly spend.
Yes. We offer ongoing cluster monitoring, regular health reviews, upgrade management, and cost optimization. The scope is flexible — some teams want full managed support, others just want periodic reviews on top of their own operations. We work around your model.
